Plenary 9.00 am Introduction & welcome Simon Elias, LERC, outlines the agenda and plans for the day

Welcome to Cardiff University from Prof Rick Delbridge, Dean of Research, Innovation & Engagement, Cardiff University

Plenary 9.20 am John Bicheno: “LERC 25: Old wine in new bottles, New wine in old bottles” John’s talk will discuss the new emphasis on old Lean concepts,such as inventory turns, VSM, PDCA, problem solving, and established Lean thinking on emerging concepts, including Reinventing organisations, AI data mining, Agile and ‘bullshit jobs’.
Plenary 10.05 am Nicola Bateman: “Lean evolution, a story of consolidation and exploration” Nicola’s talk will consider how lean has developed its reach beyond its origins – influencing our public services and how this has challenged some of lean’s original ideas. She will discuss how this extension to lean has allowed some ideas such as Visual Management and Operating Model to nearly detach from lean origins to become independent approaches and what this means to the lean community.

Plenary 11.25 am Dan Jones: “Reflecting on the development and future of lean thinking” The co-author of the Machine that Changed the World and Lean Thinking considers key issues and trends
Plenary 12.15 pm Panel discussion The morning presenters plus special guests will respond to questions from delegates, reflecting on the information presented.
Break 1.00 pm Lunch Including networking in the exhibition area
Breakouts 2.00 pm Lean Coffee workshops & parallel discussion sessions Delegates will attend either a Lean Coffee workshop or a parallel discussion session (selection made pre-conference)
Break 3.30 pm Afternoon refreshments Including networking in the exhibition area
Plenary 4.00 pm Nick Rich: presentation title TBC The 4Rs of Contemporary Lean Systems Design. Exploring reliability, resilience, redundancy and reaction times of the modern lean business.
Plenary 5.00 pm Conference Summary Key take outs and future activities
Dinner 7.00 pm Celebration dinner, with guest speaker Peter Willats National Museum, Cardiff
