Introduction:
The Cardiff University EPSRC Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre (IMRC) was established in 2004 – an amalgamation of three of the university’s leading manufacturing and operations research groups – LERC, Logistics System Dynamics Group and the Manufacturing Engineering Centre.
It seeked to address the UK’s manufacturing productivity gap by seeking sustainable solutions and its mission is to provide a focal point for UK manufacturing to understand why they must change their businesses along sustainable lines, what this will mean to them operationally, how they should go about implementation and what manufacturing technologies they should be investing in.
